The 2023 Achievement Awards and Youth Empowerment Breakfast
Sustaining Our Community Through History, Education, and Service
Presented by The Indianapolis Professional Association
Since 1987, the Achievement Awards Program has honored local African-American scholars with a $500 book award to assist them as they begin their college educations. While the event was initially started to highlight those who had qualified in the National Merit or National Achievement Programs, it has been extended to include the top graduating African-American students in Marion County. This program has been combined with the Youth Empowerment Breakfast since 2016. The Youth Empowerment Breakfast recognizes local organizations, adults, and youth who have excelled in service to the young people of the community. Graduates who have overcome challenging circumstances are also included in the Youth Empowerment Program and are provided a book award of $500 as well.
